Use the Object Edit > Attach > Detach tool to split a surface into multiple surfaces, or split a curve into multiple curves.

Split a curve or surface

1. Choose Object Edit > Attach > Detach .
2. Click the curve or surface.
3. Drag the locator to the position at which you want to split the object.

   To split at additional points, click the curve or surface to create another locator.

   To remove a locator, -click it.

4. Click Go.
