Review the following checklist before installing and licensing Alias.
Review the requirements section for your platform (System requirements for Windows, System requirements for Mac OS X.)
The most up-to-date information on specific hardware system qualifications for your computer can be found on the Autodesk Web site:
http://www.autodesk.com/qual-charts
Your computer system must meet specific hardware and software requirements for you to successfully install and run Alias.
Autodesk does not support hardware and software configurations that do not meet these requirements.
If you do not have administrator privileges on your computer, contact your system administrator.
You must have administrator privileges to install Alias. (You do not need to be an administrator to launch Alias after it has been installed.)
Uninstall Alias before installing the same Alias version as the one installed. See Uninstall Aliasor Uninstalling Alias for Mac OS X.
If you have a previous version of Alias on your system, you can choose to keep it or uninstall it. However, you must uninstall before installing the same Alias version as the one installed (for example, to upgrade a pre-release copy).
To avoid any conflicts when installing Alias, we recommend that you close all other programs and disable virus detection software before launching the installer.
(Windows only) Only add the path currently needed for the version of Alias that is being run. Under most circumstances Alias performs correctly if the path is not set.
Having multiple versions of Alias installed on a machine and adding each version’s path to the user’s environment PATH variable may cause version conflicts.
Determine how you will implement licensing.
During the installation process, you must enter your license type and license information to initialize the process. Will the licensing be local to the machine or are you using a license server? For more information, see Licensing Alias.
You are now ready to install Alias. Please follow your platform-specific installation instructions:
