When saving a wire file, you can prevent the creation of a .ICON file by turning off Create .ICON files in the System section of the Preferences > General Preferences control window.
The .ICON file shows a snapshot of the current window. If one exists, it now always appears in both the Windows and Alias browsers when opening or saving a file.
We removed the Preview checkbox from the Windows browser. We also removed the Create Icon and Make Icon buttons (old functionality used to create software-rendered icons) from both browsers.
Windows browser for File > Open. A preview of the selected file icon appears in the bottom left corner.
Windows browser for File > Save as. The preview box in the bottom right corner shows the icon that will be created when the file is saved. The bottom left corner shows the icon of the selected file, or file that was last opened.
