In this lesson you learned how to break up your scenes into pieces and reference those pieces into a single file. You learned how to:

• Create a file reference
• Duplicate a file reference
• Use a proxy reference for objects outside and inside of an asset
• Export animation tweaks as reference edits
• Use reference edits and assets to apply animation to a non-matching skeleton.

For the purposes of this tutorial you did all the steps yourself. However, imagine a multiple artist scenario in which one artist is in charge of the main scene, while another artist is in charge of the character modeling, and another in charge of the character animation. If the scene is referenced properly, each artist can work on their portion of the scene simultaneously in their own files without having to wait for other artists to finish their work.
