Smooth skin weights
Set smooth skinning
Examples
Add an influence object
You
can add influence objects to smooth skinned geometry at any pose.
However, adding an influence object to smooth
skinned geometry when not at the bind pose produces
slightly different results than when at the bind pose. For example,
if you add an influence object to geometry that is not at its bind
pose, then some deformation may occur at the location of the influence
due to a redistribution of weights in that area.
To
add an influence object
- Position
the influence object.
- Select
the skin, skin object(s) (for example, NURBS surfaces), or skin
points (NURBS CVs or polygonal vertices) that you want the object(s)
to influence.
- Also
select the influence object.
- Select
Skin > Edit Smooth Skin > Add Influence > .
- Set
the Add Influence options as desired.
- Do
one of the following:
- Click Add to
add the influence object now.
- In
the window’s Edit menu, select Save Settings to
save add influence options without adding influence object(s) now.
- In
the window’s Edit menu, select Reset Settings to
reset to the default add influence options.
- Click Close to
close the Add Influence Options window
without adding the influence object.
