- In
the Trax Editor, select the clip
whose weighting you want to edit.
- In
the Maya main menu, select
Display > UI Elements > Channel
Box/Layer Editor.
The Channel Box appears,
displaying the clips channels.
- In
the Channel Box, animate the clip’s Weight channel
over time to increase or decrease its influence in its character’s
overall animation.
When you animate a clip’s Weight,
a weight curve is created for the clip.
- Do
one of the following:
- In
the Trax toolbar, click the Graph Weight Curves button.
- In
the Trax menu bar, select View > Graph Anim
Curves.
The Graph Editor appears
with all the selected clip’s animation curves framed in its graph
view.
- Select Weight in
the Graph Editor’s outliner and
press f to frame the clip’s weight curve in the graph view.
- -click
the clip and select Graph Weight from the menu
that appears.

- Adjust
the shape of the curve to alter the amount the clip’s animation
contributes to its character’s overall animation sequence by doing
one of the following:
- Move
the keys or the key’s tangents.
Select the Move Tool from
the Maya toolbox, and -drag
the keys or their tangents to change the shape of the curve.
- Add
keys to the weight curve.
Select the Insert Keys Tool or Add
Keys Tool from the Graph Editor’s
toolbar, and -click
the weight curve to insert additional keys that you can use to change
the shape of the curve.
