This topic presents a table that lists IGES entities and the 3ds Max objects they translate to when you import them. Any IGES entities not listed here do not import.

---|---|---|
100 | Circular Arc | Arc Shape |
102 | Composite Curve | Spline Shape |
104 | Conic Arc | Spline Shape |
106 | Copious Data | Spline Shape |
108 | Plane | NURBS Surface (unbounded converts to construction plane) |
110 | Line | Spline Shape |
112 | Parametric Spline Curve | NURBS Curve |
114 | Parametric Spline Surface | NURBS Surface |
116 | Point | Point Helper |
118 | Ruled Surface | NURBS Surface |
120 | Surface of Revolution | NURBS Surface |
122 | Tabulated Surface | NURBS Surface |
126 | Rational B-spline Curve | NURBS Curve |
128 | Rational B-spline Surface | NURBS Surface |
130 | Offset Curve | NURBS Curve |
140 | Offset Surface | NURBS Surface |
141 | Boundary Curve | NURBS Surface |
142 | Curve on Parametric Surface | NURBS Surface |
144 | Trimmed Parametric Surface | NURBS Surface |
143 | Bounded Surface | NURBS Surface |
186 | Solid | NURBS Surface |
308 | Subfigure Definition | Instance |
402 | Group | NURBS Object |
The 3ds Max objects translated from IGES can have surface sub-objects.
IGES import supports name and color mappings to 3ds Max names and colors.
When you import IGES files, names are mapped by using the level name followed by a colon, and then the object name.
