The View Plane Proportional Transform tool uses a brush with a proportional falloff to translate, rotate, and scale components. It is in fact same as the Brush on the Hair panel, but it can be used on polygon meshes, NURBS surfaces, curves, and lattices as well as hair.
The tool uses the current proportional settings to control the falloff from the center to the outer edge of the brush. See Using Proportional Modeling for more information.
If desired, select some points on the object.
Choose Modify Component View Plane Proportional Transform Tool from the Model toolbar.
Select the manipulation mode on the Transform panel:
Click Plane to use the last reference, or right-click it to pick a new reference. See Reference Planes [Working in 3D Space] for more information about reference planes.
Click and drag in any 3D view:
Middle-click and drag left or right to rotate counter-clockwise or clockwise about the mouse pointer.
Right-click and drag left or right to scale down or up about the mouse pointer.
Press R and drag left or right to decrease or increase the brush radius. You can also set this and other properties in the MoveProportional property editor (Modify Component Proportional Setup, or right click on Prop in the Transform panel).
The tool stays active so you can continue to click and drag on other areas of the object. You can also select other points, or even other objects, in supra mode while the View Plane Proportional Transform tool is still active.
When you have finished, exit the tool by pressing Esc or activating a different tool.
