Lagoa Velocity Color Gradient

Sets the gradient color of particles based on their velocity. This helps to visualize the particle velocity for testing and troubleshooting purposes. You can also transfer the color to a polygonized mesh to create a variety of effects.

To apply: See Applying Cached Post Sim Effects [Lagoa Multiphysics Simulations].

Tasks: Lagoa/Cached Sim Post Effect

Output Ports: Execute

Enable

Enables the effect of this compound.

Range Min

Minimum particle velocity value to be displayed using the color gradient. This value corresponds to the leftmost color on the gradient.

Range Max

Maximum particle velocity value to be displayed using the color gradient. This value corresponds to the rightmost color on the gradient.

Gradient

The color gradient used for the particles based on the Range Min/Max values.

See the Gradient node for more information.

Blend Weight

Blends this gradient color with the current particle color when Blend Weight is selected as the Mode below.

A value of 1 means that only the gradient color is used; a value of 0 means that only the current particle color is used.

Mode

Sets how the current particle color is used:

  • Override Color: the current particle color is not used at all.

  • Blend Weight: allows you to blend the current particle color with the gradient color.

Range Mode

Fits the gradient range to the point cloud:

  • Automatic — fits for the range available at the current frame.

  • Manual — computes the range based on the Range Min/Max values above.

For example, let's say that there is a large range of velocity values within an element: some points don't move at all (0), and some points move a lot (15). You can limit the range of velocity values displayed by setting the Range Min/Max parameters to 1/10. This maps the gradient to fits the velocity values you want to display. Any velocity value below 1 is mapped to the leftmost gradient color, and any velocity value above 10 is mapped to the rightmost gradient color.
