True Lens Emulator

DEPRECATED. This shader is unsupported, but it may still get installed with Softimage to provide compatibility with older scenes that use it. It is recommended that you replace unsupported shaders in your scenes with equivalent shaders from the current Softimage shader library.

Category: Lens

Shader Type: Lens

Output: Color (RGB) value

Simulates the geometrical distortions caused by actual lenses. The parameters include the nine most popular photographic and cinematic camera lenses used. The default values for the lenses correspond to the maximum field of view.

The following lenses can be emulated:

Petzval

Useful for high aperture, narrow field of view applications.

Telephoto

Basic telephoto lens characteristics: narrow field of view, low depth of field (high aperture).

Double Gauss

Used for very low depth-of-field (high aperture), wide field-of-view (20 degrees) applications.

Tessar

Used for very low depth-of-field (high aperture) scenes.

Cooke

Standard fixed-aperture cinematographic lens.

Heliar

High-aperture telephoto lens. Usually has a screw mount, so make sure your CPU is compatible.

Wide Angle

Creates a wide field of view (35 degrees). Depending on the camera's position, distortion may occur.

Fisheye

Creates a very wide (10 degrees) field-of-view, accompanied with distortion.

Microscope

Creates a very narrow field-of-view.
