Snap Boundary Property Editor

 
 
 

Constrains the control points of a boundary on one surface to the matching control points on a boundary of another surface. This is often a first step in assembling a surface mesh object.

To apply: See Snapping Boundaries [Surface and Curve Modeling].

To redisplay: Select the first surface, click the Selection button on the Select panel, then click the Snap Boundary icon.

You can display these properties again later by selecting the first surface then choosing Edit Properties Modeling Properties and clicking the Snap Boundary tab.

Surface Mesh 1, 2

These parameters identify which boundaries to snap together on each of the two surfaces.

Subsurface

The index of the subsurface if the surface is a mesh composed of multiple subsurfaces. For simple surfaces with no component subsurfaces, this value is 0.

Boundary

The boundary of the corresponding surface:

  • Min U Boundary (Red). The U = 0 boundary of the corresponding surface. When NURBS Boundaries on the Attributes tab of the Camera Visibility Property Editor is on, this boundary is displayed in red.

  • Min V Boundary (Green). The V = 0 boundary of the corresponding surface. When NURBS Boundaries is on, this boundary is displayed in green.

  • Max U Boundary. The maximum U boundary of the corresponding surface.

  • Max V Boundary. The maximum V boundary of the corresponding surface.

Inverse Boundary

Reverses the direction of U or V for the purpose of matching points. When one of these options is on, then points 1, 2, ..., n on the boundary of the first surface are constrained to points n, n - 1, ..., 1 on the boundary of the second surface.

Offset

Shifts the points on the boundary of the first surface by the specified number of points along the boundary of the second surface. E.g., if this value is 2, then point 1 on the boundary of the first surface is constrained to point 3 on the boundary of the second surface, etc. This option is useful if the boundary of the first surface has fewer points than the boundary of the second surface.
