Shader Family: Texture

Output: Scalar

Creates a vein-like scalar texture space that you can apply to an object. This texture generator is based on a coordinate input. You can control the vein thickness, complexity, and other visual styles. You can also animate this shader using the Time parameter.

Name

The shader's name. Enter any name you like, or leave the default.

Coordinates

Defines the U, V, and Z texture coordinates.

Thickness

Defines the veins' thickness.

Complexity

Defines how complex and convoluted the curves of the veins will be. A low value (1-3) give thick, flowing curves; a high value gives chaotic and choppy curves. (Higher values take longer to render.)

Falloff

Defines the falloff region around the veins.

Sharpness

Defines the falloff between the vein and the falloff region defined in the Falloff parameter. A value of 0 causes no noticeable step between the two regions; a higher value creates a definite transition.

Intensity

Defines the overall scaling of the intensity effect.

Time

Animates the texture by defining the current time.

Render Tree Usage

Use this shader to drive a parameter with a texture effect anywhere in a render tree. This shader generates a texture that can be used as an Intensity value, a Scale value, or to drive any scalar surface shader parameter (IOR, Bumpmap Factor, etc.).

Connect a Texture Space Controller shader to drive the Coordinate value of this shader.
