The Animation Layer buttons appear next to each animation layer in the stack. You can use these controls to lock, mute, or
solo each animation layer.
The Animation Layer buttons include the following:
Button |
Name |
Function |
|
Lock |
Locks the animation layer so that it does not receive keyframes. This lets you set keyframes on a layer that is lower in the
stack without having to mute all of the layers about it. When an animation layer is locked its keys continue to contribute
to the result animation, but it cannot receive new keys.
NoteWhen a layer is locked, its name displays in italics.

Solo |
When an animation layer is soloed, it becomes the only active layer at its level of the hierarchy. This means it is the only
layer that can be keyframes, and the only layer whose animation plays back in the result. All other layers at the same level
of the hierarchy and their child layers are muted. Soloing a parent layer does not affect the soloing or muting of child layers.
NoteMultiple layers can be soloed at the same time.

|
Mute |
When on, the animation layer is muted. Muting an animation layer is like making it transparent; you no longer see its effect
in the Viewer window. Muted layers become inactive, so their animation is not evaluated in the final result.
NoteIf a muted animation layer is parented to other layers, the child layers are also muted, however child layers can be muted
independently from their parents.
