Detaching textures

You can detach a texture from a material property, model, or Layered texture. You can also choose to detach a texture from multiple assets at once.

To detach a texture from multiple objects:

  1. Expand the Textures folder in the Scene browser.
  2. Right-click the texture you want to detach.
  3. Select Detach x From All Objects, where x is the name of the texture.

The texture is detached from all objects. Objects include models or Layered textures.

To detach a texture from a model:

  1. Expand the Scene folder in the Scene browser.
  2. Double-click the model from which you want to detach a texture. For example, a Shadow Map would be a texture type that is directly applied to a model.
  3. Right-click on the texture in the model folder, and select Detach x From y, where x is the name of the texture and y is the name of the model.

The texture is no longer attached to the model, but is still present in the scene.

To detach a texture from a material property:

  1. Expand the Materials folder in the Scene browser.
  2. Double-click the material to display its Material settings.
  3. In the Material settings, right-click the name of the texture associated to a material property, such as Diffuse.
    Note

In one material, the same texture may be attached to multiple properties. Detaching the texture from one property does not detach it from the other properties.

  4. Select Detach from the menu.

The texture is detached from the material property, but it is still present in the scene.

To detach a texture from a Layered Texture:

  1. Expand the Textures folder in the Scene browser, then double-click the Layered texture.
  2. Click the Layer Settings tab to display the Layer Editor.
  3. Select a texture from the list of layers in the Layer Editor.
  4. Click the Remove button.

The texture is detached from the Layered texture, but is still present in the scene.
