The Preferences window includes the Application preference settings.
To access the Application preferences:
The Application preference settings enable you to set a license timeout for your MotionBuilder network license.
If you are not sure whether you are using a network license or a standalone license, you can check your license type in the Product License Information window via Help > About MotionBuilder, and in the About MotionBuilder window, click Product License information.
To enable and set license timeout:
After one minute in idle state, the title bar updates and displays the time that is left before the license is returned to the server.
The timeout period reflects the total license timeout period whose minimum value is the timeout period configured by the license server (.opt file). The default timeout period is 15 minutes.
The license is reclaimed by the license server if MotionBuilder is idle on the computer for more than the timed out period you define in the MotionBuilder Application preference settings.
MotionBuilder is considered busy during any of the following activities:
Once the license is reclaimed by the license server, resuming activity attempts to re-acquire the license. If re-acquiring the license fails because there are no available seats, a dialog is displayed enabling you to save your work in progress.
To set up a license server, see Autodesk Media & Entertainment Products Licensing Guide 2013.
