Use the 2d Placement utility

For a description of the 2d Placement utility, see 2d Placement.

You can reposition 2D textures with numerical precision in the place2dTexture node’s Attribute Editor, or you can use Maya’s Texture Placement Tool to reposition textures or labels interactively.

To position a 2D texture interactively

  1. In the Hypershade, click the place2dTexture swatch that is connected to the texture you want to reposition.

    The place2dTexture’s Attribute Editor appears

    Tip

If you cannot see the place2dTexture swatch, do the following:

    • Select the texture swatch, then click the Input Connections button on the Hypershade toolbar.
    • If no place2dTexture swatch exists, it has been deleted or not created (because it’s automatic creation has been turned off by default). You must add one (see Create a node), then connect it to the texture (see Connect render nodes using their default connections) before you can reposition it.

  2. Do one of the following:
    • Change the values of the attributes in the Attribute Editor. For detailed descriptions of the attributes, see 2d Placement.
    • For NURBS, click the Interactive Placement button in the Attribute Editor to use the Texture Placement tool. To set the Texture placement tool, see Texture placement vs. label mapping.
      Tip

It may be difficult to place a texture using only the manipulator. Use both the manipulator and the Attribute Editor to get the desired result.
