Convert wave displacement to polygons

 
 
 

You can create geometry that represents the wave height by converting the displacement to polygons.

Note

This procedure works for any geometry with displacement mapping.

To convert wave displacement to polygons

  1. Select the ocean surface.
  2. Select Modify > Convert > Displacement to Polygons. Maya creates a poly plane (oceanPlaneShape_displacement) with the displacement represented by the geometry.
