To edit a clip’s weighting
- In the , select the clip whose weighting you want to edit.
- In the Maya main menu, select Display > UI Elements > .
The appears, displaying the clips channels.
- In the , animate the clip’s channel over time to increase or decrease its influence in its character’s overall animation.
When you animate a clip’s , a weight curve is created for the clip.
- Do one of the following:
- In the Trax toolbar, click the button.
- In the Trax menu bar, select .
The appears with all the selected clip’s animation curves framed in its graph view.
- Select in the ’s outliner and press f to frame the clip’s weight curve in the graph view.
- -click the clip and select from the menu that appears.
The appears with the selected clip’s weight curve framed in its graph view.
- Adjust the shape of the curve to alter the amount the clip’s animation contributes to its character’s overall animation sequence
by doing one of the following:
- Move the keys or the key’s tangents.
Select the from the Maya toolbox, and -drag the keys or their tangents to change the shape of the curve.
- Add keys to the weight curve.
Select the or from the ’s toolbar, and -click the weight curve to insert additional keys that you can use to change the shape of the curve.
To create a weight curve for a clip without manually keying the attribute
- In the , select the clip for whom you want to create a weight curve.
- -click the clip and select from the menu that appears.
A weight curve is created for the selected clip.
