You can use passive collision objects as grooming tools or in a number of different ways to shape and position your hair. For example, you can convert a polygon torus or pipe to a passive collision object, and use the object to gather hairs into the ponytail shape. Use Interactive Playback mode with the Scale and Move tools to tighten the collision object around the curves, simulating the effect of an elastic band. You can also use a Transform constraint to pull the hair tight through the pipe or let the hair fall through the pipe by the force of gravity.
