Create Description

Opens the Create XGen Description window, which lets you create an XGen Description.

See Create an XGen Description.

Duplicate Description

Creates a copy of the selected Description, including all patch bindings and guides, then adds it to the same Collection as the original Description.

Move Description to Collection

Lets you move a selected Description from its current Collection to another one.

Select Description

Selecting this highlights the currently active Description (selected in the XGen window) in the Outliner.

Bind Patches

Lets you change which faces are bound to patches for the selected Description.

Add Selected Faces

Binds selected faces by creating new patches, if they do not exist, or appends them to existing patches.

Replace with Select Faces

Binds selected faces by creating a new patch if one does not exist and replaces the bound faces if they already exist. Any guides attached to the faces are also removed.

Remove Selected Faces

Removes bindings to the selected faces. Remove a patch if the result is the removal of the last face for that patch. If any faces removed had guides attached then those guides are also removed.

Bind Faces Based on Map

Lets you select how to bind to faces to a patch based on the selected PTEX map. You can select whether to bind face to the White (value = 1 ) or Black (value = 0) regions of the map.

You can use the following command to generate a bind map: xgmBindPatches -d descriptionName -bm. This creates a map per-patch and displays their final locations in the Maya Script Editor.

Select Bound Faces

Select the faces currently bound to the Description.

Hide/Show Patches based on geometry visibility

Lets you specify that when the bound geometry is hidden in Maya, the patches to which it is bound are also hidden.

For example, select this option to hide patches bound to hidden mesh objects.

Set Stray Percentage

Opens the Set Stray Percentage window, which set percentage value or an expression to specify which primitives can be considered stray. A stray primitive is one that is not directly under the control of a modifier, all types of maps, masks, and attribute values, such as Length, Taper, and Tilt Region.

Delete Description

Deletes the current Description.
