Connect and disconnect fields, emitters, and collision objects

You can use the Dynamic Relationships Editor to connect and disconnect dynamic relationships between particle, nParticle and fluid objects and fields, emitters, and collision objects. In the left panel of the Dynamic Relationships Editor, you can select objects to view and change their dynamic relationships with fields, collisions, and emitters.

The right panel of the editor shows the dynamic relationships of the objects selected in the left panel. Items highlighted in the right panel are connected to the objects selected in the left panel.

Note

Nucleus-based collisions between nCloth, nParticle, or passive collision objects, cannot be edited using the Dynamic Relationships Editor.

To connect or disconnect items

  1. Open the Dynamic Relationships Editor by selecting Window > Relationship Editors > Dynamic Relationships.
  2. (Nucleus objects only) From the Solver list, select which Nucleus solver 's objects you want to display or edit.
  3. In the left panel, select the object(s) you want to connect or disconnect. To select multiple objects, -click each object.

Items currently connected to the selected objects appear highlighted in the right panel.

    Note

When you select soft body objects in the left panel, the object displays in the right panel with its associated particle object appended to its object name. The associated particle object name is added to the soft body object name to distinguish soft body from rigid body objects. When you select an nCloth object's input mesh or output mesh in the left panel, the nCloth object is identified in the right panel by its output mesh object name.

  4. Set the Selection mode to the type of connection you want to make or break. See Selection modes.
  5. Do one of the following:
    • To connect a field, collision geometry, or an emitter to the selected object(s), select the items you want to connect in the right panel.

The item is now connected so it displays highlighted.

    • To disconnect a field, collision geometry, or an emitter from the selected object(s), select the items you want to connect in the right panel.

The item is now disconnected so it no longer displays highlighted.
