Lock file references

 
 
 

You can use the Lock option to lock new file references when you create them, or use it to lock existing file references.

NoteYou can lock reference nodes and individual referenced objects. When you lock a reference node, all of the objects contained by the node are locked. You cannot unlock these objects individually. You must unlock the reference node.

To lock or unlock an existing file reference from the Outliner

  1. In the Outliner, -click either the reference node or referenced objects you want to lock or unlock.
  2. Select Reference > Lock Reference or Unlock Reference from the menu that appears.

In the Outliner, locked references are indicated by an icon.

To lock or unlock an existing file reference from the Reference Editor

  1. Access the Reference Editor by selecting File > Reference Editor.
  2. In the Reference Editor, select the reference you want to lock or unlock and do one of the following:
    • Select either Reference > Lock Reference or Reference > Unlock Reference.
    • -click the reference and select Reference > Lock Reference or Unlock Reference from the menu that appears.

In the Reference Editor, a lock icon beside the reference indicates that it is locked.

To lock a file reference when the reference is created

  1. Access the Reference Options window by doing one of the following:
    • Select File > Create Reference > .
    • In the Outliner, -click in an open area and select Reference > Create Reference > .

    The Reference Options window appears.

  2. In the Reference Options window, in the General Options section, select Lock.
