For a description of the utility, see Stencil.

To map a to an object

            - In a material’s , map the utility to the attribute.

- In the ’s , map a 2D texture to the attribute.

- Assign the material to the object and adjust the ’s attributes as necessary.
               Tip
IPR-render to view the result as you adjust attributes.

To use the attribute

            - Turn on. Since the attribute’s default color is black as well as the ’s , Maya masks out only the areas containing the most black.

- Change the color in the . In the following, Maya masks out any color containing red or pink and replaces it with the ’s .
               Note
When bump mapping textures, you must make manual, explicit connections. Bump map the texture, then manually connect the to the stencil .
