You can move particles with the force of a fluid.

For an example of this technique, select Fluid Effects >Get Fluid Example and in the Techniques folder, look at WhirlyParticle.ma. For information on importing fluid examples, see Fluid examples.

To move particles with the force of a fluid

  1. Create a dynamic fluid. For details, see Dynamic Grids.
  2. Move the particle shape inside the fluid container. The particles must be inside the container to be affected by the fluid. For details on creating particles, see the Dynamics guide.
  3. Select both the fluid and the particle shape.
  4. Select Fields > Affect Selected Object(s).
  5. Play the simulation using the playback controls at the bottom of the Maya window.
  6. Modify the effect, as required:
