Install and load the DMM plug-in for Maya
 
 
 

The following sections describe how to install the DMMâ„¢ plug-in for Maya on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux platforms. It also describes how to load the plug-in using the Maya Plug-in Manager.

Install the DMM plug-in on Windows

  1. Run the Maya installation wizard.
  2. Open the Maya configuration options by clicking Click to open and configure.
  3. Under Sub-Components, select DMM.

    The DMM plug-in for Maya is installed during the Maya 2012 installation.

Install DMM plug-in on Mac OS X

  1. Run the Maya installation wizard.
  2. In the list of components to be installed, ensure that DMM is selected.

    The DMM plug-in for Maya is installed during the Maya 2012 installation.

Install the DMM plug-in on Linux

  1. Extract the Maya packages from the compressed file you downloaded.
  2. Open a shell as a super user (using su -)and navigate to the directory where you extracted the packages.
  3. Type ./setup and press Enter.

    This starts the Autodesk Product Configuration wizard.

  4. In the list of components you want to install, under Maya, select DMM.

    The DMM plug-in for Maya is installed after the Maya 2012 installation completes.

Load the DMM plug-in

Before using the DMM plug-in for the first time, you need to load the plug-in's associated files using the Plug-in Manager. To use you all of the plug-in's features, you need to ensure that dmm_cinematic.mll and DmmPlugin.py are both loaded.

To load the DMM plug-in

  1. Start Maya.
  2. Select Window > Settings/Preferences > Plug-in Manager.

    The Plug-in Manager opens.

  3. Locate dmm_cinematic.mll and DmmPlugin.py, and then turn on Loaded for each file.

    To load these files automatically every time you start Maya, turn on Auto load.

  4. Click Close.

In Maya, a DMM item is added to the shelf. Use these shelf items to access the plug-in.
