.mi file created from Maya 2009 does not render in Maya 2012 standalone

If you export a scene as a .mi file using Maya 2009, issues may occur if you try and render the .mi file using Maya 2012 standalone.

To workaround this problem, open the scene in Maya 2012 and re-export it as a .mi file.
