Slide polygon edges

The Slide Edge Tool lets you reposition a selection of edges or entire edge loops on a polygon mesh. You can slide an edge along its shared perpendicular edges or in the direction of the shared vertex normals.

To slide a selection of edges on a polygonal mesh

  1. Select the edges you want to slide on the polygonal mesh.

You can select the edges individually by shift-selecting the edges or by selecting an entire edge loop using the Select > Select Edge Loop Tool.

    Note

You can convert an existing selection to an edge loop using Select > Convert Selection > To Edge Loop, or use the pickwalk feature (Left and right arrow hotkeys).

  2. Select Edit Mesh > Slide Edge Tool > .

For a description of the options for the Slide Edge Tool, see Edit Mesh > Slide Edge Tool.

  3. Drag using the middle-mouse button to slide the selected edges.

The vertices associated with the selected edges move along their shared perpendicular edges.

    Tip

You can press the Shift key to move the edges/edge loop along each vertex normal.
