The following describes known texture extraction limitations that have been fixed.
Multiple source models not recognized for texture extraction
In Mudbox version 1.0.7 it was possible to extract a texture map from multiple source models and the resulting map appear as if it was from one model. This feature did not work properly in Mudbox 2009 and has been fixed.
Artifacts in extracted displacement maps
A number of limitations related to the appearance of visual artifacts in extracted displacement maps have been fixed.
Base subdivision level not updated prior to texture extraction
Mudbox did not automatically update the base subdivision level when edits were made at higher subdivision levels. As a result, the edits were not taken into account for a texture extraction unless the user first stepped down to the base subdivision level prior to the extraction. This has been fixed.
Deleting object after normal map extraction causes corruption of file
Deleting an object in the scene immediately after a normal map extraction and subsequently saving the file caused corruption of the file data. When the file was subsequently opened in Mudbox the following error message displayed: Corrupt file <directory path>. This has been fixed in Service Pack 2.
Workaround: If you experienced this problem in Mudbox Service Pack 1, it may be possible to recover the models from the corrupted files as follows:
The model from the corrupt file will immediately appear in the 3D View but the model’s name will not be visible for selection in the Object List.
The exported .obj file will contain the model from the original file.
