Selecting the Transition Type
 
 
 

After you select a cut or transition on the timeline, select the type of transition you want to create.

Click: To create:
Cut (or press Delete) A cut (a zero-length transition). The Cut button changes a blending transition to a cut; the Delete hotkey creates a new zero-length cut.
Dissolve (or press End) A dissolve between two clips on the same track. See Creating Dissolves.
Wipe (or press Page Down) A SMPTE or user-defined wipe from the incoming clip to the outgoing clip. See Adding a SMPTE Wipe and Editing Wipes.
Custom (or press Ctrl+Page Down) (not applicable to Backdraft Conform) A customized transition such as a push wipe. You can create a Custom transition only from the EditDesk record timeline. See Creating a Custom Transition.
Axis (or press Insert) (not applicable to Backdraft Conform) An axis transition between two clips. See Creating an Axis Transition.
