Accessing Modules

When you enter a module from the EditDesk, you select the input clips that you want to work with. Each module allows for different variations of input clips, but the loading order is the same: front first, back second, matte third, and destination fourth. The only exception to this is the Action module. See Action: Basics.

To load clips into a module:

NoteNot applicable to Backdraft Conform.
  1. In the EditDesk menu, disable the current option in the Menu Priority box or select and enable Effects.

Buttons for accessing effects modules are displayed.

  2. Click the button corresponding to the module you want to enter.

The cursor changes to a red, green, or blue arrow.

  3. If you selected the Colour Corrector, Paint, Text, or Action module, the Input Mode box appears below the module buttons.

Use this box to select the number of source clips you want to modify (for example, front only or combinations of front, back, and matte).

  4. Select the source clip(s) by clicking on the frame number or timecode of any frame in the clip.

Any clip on the EditDesk can be a source clip. The order in which you select the source clips is important. The colour of the arrow cursor indicates which clip you should select next.

    Cursor colour: Use to select:
Red The first (front) source clip
Green The second (back) source clip (where required)
Blue The key-in (matte) clip (where required)

After selecting the source clips, the cursor changes to a white arrow.

  5. Select the destination for the clip containing the effect you will create in the module by clicking anywhere on the Record Area (but not in a timeline view) or the Source Area.

    The module opens.
