Filtering

Use the Filtering button to enable or disable bilinear filtering of the image. If you disable Filtering and zoom in on the image, some edges may be hard. When Filtering is enabled, a smooth filter is applied to the image.

Since filtering may soften an image, sometimes you may want to turn it off if you are doing straightforward front, back, matte compositing, and if no scaling or animation is required. Turning filtering off ensures that you maintain as much of the original picture as possible. However, with filtering off, no subpixel interpolation is possible, and if you are animating the movement of an image, it may appear “steppy”.
