Sample color using the Color Chooser

You can copy (sample) a color from a bitmap image using the Color Chooser.

  1. Click the Color box in the Paint Brush properties window to display the Color Chooser and select the Image tab.
  2. Do either of the following:
    • Click the Load... button and use the file browser to select the image you want to sample.
    • Drag and drop the image you want to sample into the empty area labeled Drop Image Here.

A thumbnail of the image appears in the empty image area. Images larger than this area are scaled to fit. If the image has a different aspect ratio, the remaining space is filled with a medium gray color.

  3. Click on the image to display a magnifying marker at the cursor location. The center of the cross-hair indicates the selected pixel.

This marker persists while the stylus/mouse button remains pressed and updates the color in the Color History box as the marker is moved across the image.

  4. Releasing the stylus/mouse button selects the current pixel color.
