Save Screen Image...

Captures an image of the 3D View and saves it in the user-specified file format and directory.

Supported file formats include: .png, .bmp, .tiff, jpeg. Resolutions and aspect ratios larger than the current 3D View can also be specified.

  • Width - Specifies the width of the saved image in pixels.
  • Height - Specifies the height of the saved image in pixels.
  • Constrain Proportions - Locks the Height and Width values to each other so when one value is changed the other is updated to maintain the original aspect ratio. Turning off this setting allows the Height and Width values to be adjusted independent of each other and output an image with different proportions compared to the default setting.
  • Use Screen Size - Clicking this button specifies to save the image at the same resolution and proportions as the 3D View.
  • Use 2X Screen Size - Clicking this button specifies to save the image at twice the resolution as the 3D View.
  • Use 4X Screen Size - Clicking this button specifies to save the image at four times the resolution as the 3D View.
  • Save Image - Displays the file browser to specify file format, directory, and file name prior to saving the file.
NoteThe .tiff and .png image formats are output with a transparent background that can be composited using a different image editing application.
Record Movie...

Opens the Record Movie... window to let you set properties to create an animation that revolves 360 degrees about a vertical axis.

Supported file formats include: .mp4, .flv, .swf, and .png (when set to File Sequence). Resolutions and aspect ratios larger than the current 3D View can also be specified.

  • Presets - Specifies a number of common multimedia and video image resolutions.
  • Width - Specifies the width of the saved image in pixels.
  • Height - Specifies the height of the saved image in pixels.
  • Record at - Specifies the rate at which video frames are recorded in frame per second (fps).
  • Playback at - Specifies the rate at which video frames are played back in frames per second (fps).
  • Automatically Pause Recording When Idle - Prevents the recording of unwanted frames by pausing the recording whenever the tool cursor is inactive. Pressing the Resume button continues recording.
  • Mudbox Window - Records actions that occur within the entire user-interface including trays, menus, and property windows. This is ideal when recording a movie to depict a workflow for instructional purposes.

  • Anti-alias - Performs an anti-alias filter on the pixels to produce higher quality results in the image. The render process will take longer when this property is turned on.
  • Movie Format - Specifies the file format type to save the rendered turntable animation. Supported file formats include: .mp4, .flv, .swf, and .png (when set to File Sequence)
