Trays

Trays (also referred to as the tool trays) store collections of items (For example, sculpt and paint tool presets, falloff presets, stamps, stencils, and material and lighting presets. Items can be added, removed, reordered, or renamed using the tray’s window menu ( ). Items on a tray can be reordered by dragging an item using the middle button.

NoteItems in the Sculpt, Paint, Pose, and Select/Move Tools trays can alternately be selected using the number keys on your computer’s keyboard. Clicking keys 1 through 9 selects the corresponding tool position in the active tool tray. Frequently used tools can be dragged to any of the first 9 positions on a tray using the middle button of your mouse/stylus.

Trays are stored in the following directories as text files that can be manually edited using a text editor:

(Windows) <drive>:\My Documents\Mudbox\2011\data\Trays
(Mac OS X) /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/Mudbox 2011/Trays

Each line of the text file is organized using the convention: object/tool type;name;icon;label.
