After you select a cut or transition on the timeline, select the type of transition you want to create.
| Click: | To create: |

| Cut (or press Delete) | A cut (a zero-length transition). The Cut button changes a blending transition to a cut; the Delete hotkey creates a new zero-length cut. |
| Dissolve (or press End) | A dissolve between two clips on the same track. See Creating Dissolves. |
| Wipe (or press Page Down) | A SMPTE or user-defined wipe from the incoming clip to the outgoing clip. See Adding a SMPTE Wipe. |
