Some important conventions used throughout Getting Started with Maya are explained here.

Maya is available for use on a wide range of operating systems. Any differences between operating systems when operating Maya are identified throughout this book in the following ways:

The screen illustrations and examples within Getting Started with Maya vary among the Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux operating systems. Maya’s interface is generally consistent across these systems.
