Enhancements to Revolve

We have enhanced the interface of the Surfaces > Revolve tool and added new functionality.

The tool now uses a control window rather than an option window, allowing the options to be modified and the surface to update interactively while inside the tool.

The revolved surface can now:

The axis of revolution can:

As before, only one item can be selected when using Local mode. Group the objects to revolve them around the rotation pivot of the group, or use Global mode.

All the curves selected within the same invocation of the tool belong to a single history command and can be modified simultaneously when the Revolve tool is re-entered through Query Edit.

New control options Chain select and Auto recalc behave the same as in other Surfaces tools. If Continuity check is on, it displays continuity locators at the boundaries of the different surfaces when Segments is greater than 1.

New buttons Recalc, Undo All, and Next behave the same as in other Surfaces tools.

The behavior of the manipulator remains the same, except that you can now snap the axis and its end points to the grid, control points, or geometry.

Using some of Revolve new features: two grouped curves are revolved around the local Y axis of the group to produce two sets of four degree 5 curvature continuous surfaces.
