The installation program on the Alias DVD guides you through installation. Install Alias on each computer where you want to run it.

To install Alias for Mac OS X

1. Insert the Alias DVD into the drive of your computer.

   The contents of the DVD appear in a new Finder window. If the Alias 2011 Finder window does not open automatically, double-click the Alias 2011 disk icon on your Desktop.

2. Double-click the Alias2011 package icon within the Alias 2011 folder to begin the installation process.

   The Alias Installation window appears. You can cancel the installation at any time by closing the installer window.

   NoteAt various points during the installation, the installer may ask you to type in the name and password of an administrator account on the local machine.
3. The Autodesk Software License Agreement appears.

   You can print or save this License Agreement for future reference. This agreement requires your acceptance for the Alias software installation to continue. If you do not agree to the terms and conditions of the agreement, the installation process does not continue.

   

4. Click I Accept and then Next to continue with the Alias software installation.

5. You are prompted to enter your serial number and product key.

   Enter your license information for the Alias software and click Next.

6. Select the components of the product to install.

   

   Your choices include:

   • Alias <application> – You must install this component to use Alias on your computer.
   • Alias Documentation – Alias English Documentation. The Alias documentation, which contains reference documentation, and multimedia.
   • Autodesk DirectConnect – You must install this component to import specific CAD file formats into Alias and export some CAD file formats from Alias.
7. After you have chosen Alias components or changed the install location, click Next.
8. You will be prompted for your login name and password (for OS X) to start the installation.

   

   Note If you are not an administrator on the computer, you may not be able to successfully install the product.

   The Alias software and accompanying utlilities are installed on your computer. The progress of the installation is indicated by the progress bar at the bottom of the installer’s window.

9. When all elements (the application, DirectConnect, documentation, and utilities) have been installed, a green check mark will appear next to each component in the summary screen.

   

   When finished, click Done.

10. It is not usually necessary to restart your computer after installing Alias. If it is, the installation window will tell you so. Installing a new version of DirectConnect may require you to restart.

    Congratulations! You have now installed Alias. Before you can run it, you must activate your license. See Register and Activate Aliasin this book.
