2D Depth of Field

DEPRECATED. This shader is unsupported, but it may still get installed with Softimage to provide compatibility with older scenes that use it. It is recommended that you replace unsupported shaders in your scenes with equivalent shaders from the current Softimage shader library.

Shader Type: Output

Output: Color (RGB) value

Defines the depth of field (DoF) similarly to the way a camera does. Depth of field is a focus area that begins at the foreground of the subject, passes through the focus plane, and ends in the background (or before).

Focal Length

Determines the focal length of the lens. A lens with a short focal length gives more of a depth of field than a lens with a long focal length.

Aperture Number

Defines the relative aperture, also referred to as the F-stop, and controls the depth of field. A low value (2.8) results in less depth of field; a high value (64) results in a high depth of field.

Focus Point

Controls the focus distance. A low value will increase the depth of field.

Scale

Defines the scaling factor of the circle of confusion (unfocused area).

Max

Defines the maximum pixel size of the circle of confusion (unfocused area).

Filter

Defines the level of anti-aliasing to be performed. High values take longer to render.

Render Tree Usage

This output shader isn't used directly in the render tree; rather, it is applied using a pass's shader stack. For more information,
