Category: Environment

Shader Family: Environment

Output: Color

Similar to the Spherical environment shader except it can map up to six textures on an infinite cube. This tool can be used as a texture, environment, or lens shader.

Name

The shader's name. Enter any name you like, or leave the default.

Cube

Cube Position (XYZ)

Defines the cube's center position in X, Y, and Z coordinates.

Cube Size (XYZ)

Defines the cubes size in each of the 3 axes. The distances are measured form the cube's center, which is defined in the Cube Position parameter.

Front, Back, Left, Right, Top, Bottom

From each tab you can define a unique image; there's one tab for each side of the cube.

Image

Defines an image clip to use. Click Edit to open a property page for the image clip currently being used. To retrieve a new clip, click New and indicate whether you wish to create a new clip or create one from a source.

Image View Window

Displays the selected image. You can right-click the image to access the Image Clip Property Editor. If the image is a sequence, use the playback controls to play the sequence image.

Render Tree Usage

This shader can only be connected to the material node's Environment parameter to create an environment map. To create reflection maps, try using an Image shader and connecting it to the Reflection input of the surface shader.
