Produces a graduated color or scale. Editing this operator displays a control object in the Fx viewer that allows you to interactively control the gradient's position and falloff. The control object changes depending on the specified gradient type.

Gradient

Gradient Control

The gradient slider is where you create and adjust the gradient. The bar displays the gradient left-to-right from beginning (0.00) to end (1.00).

Square markers on the bottom of the gradient bar are color markers. You can use up to 8 color markers, each with its own color value. Clicking on the gradient bar inserts a color marker at the click-point. By default, the new marker assumes the color of that point in the gradient. To delete an color marker, right-click it and choose "delete marker" from the menu.

Color

Defines the RGBA, HLSA, or HSVA values for the selected color markers, depending on which mode is selected. Change color modes by clicking the button directly beneath the color swatch.

Pos

Controls the position of color markers on the gradient. If a color marker is selected, the Pos value indicates its position, on a scale of 0.00-1.00, within the entire gradient.

Cubic/Linear

Switches between linear and cubic interpolation of the gradient. Cubic interpolation results in a smoother transition between gradient colors, while linear interpolation results in sharper transitions.

Start/End Pos

Controls the size and position of the gradient, depending on the gradient type. Generally defines the gradient's start and end positions in X and Y.

You can also define the gradient's start and end position using the manipulator when the effect is displayed in an FX Viewer.

Grad Type

This menu defines the manner in which the gradient is applied. Choose from:

Directional: A straight line which can be lengthened, shortened, or angled.

Radial: A circle, which can be sized, or moved.

Angular: A cross which can be moved. The gradient is dependent on the angle from the center point

Flame: A straight line, surrounded by an elliptical shape of the width defined by Effect Size. You can alter the length, and angle of the shape.

Flame Size

This is only useful when Flame is the selected gradient type. The value defines the width of the flame shape. You can enter any positive floating point integer.

Repeat

Enable this option if you want to repeat the gradient across the whole image area.

Pixel Type

Controls whether the gradient's pixels are RGB, RGBA, or premultiplied RGBA.

Turbulence

These settings introduce random turbulent noise into the gradient.

Amount

Controls the density of the turbulence. Higher values cause turbulence to occur farther from the edge of the gradient.

Octaves

Adjusts level of detail in turbulence. As you increase the number of octaves, the noise becomes more detailed.

Flicker Speed

Controls the speed at which the turbulence effect flickers during playback.

Spacing

Controls the spacing of the turbulence in X and Y.

Offset

Offsets the turbulence in X and Y.

Falloff

Controls the falloff of the turbulence effect.

Mask

Controls this operator's Mask Options.

Output

Controls this operator's Output Options.
