Using Install Shield to Install Softimage Plug-ins

Many third-party plug-in developers use an Install Shield setup to install Softimage plug-ins. Usually it is an add-on that is installed or a script that is run, and for that you need to know where to get the xsibatch executable.

Certain keys in the registry set the location for the different installations of Softimage on that machine. To find the path to all Softimage installations you can look in the registry:

  1. Enumerate all keys under this entry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Softimage\CoExistence
  2. For each entry specifying DllPathEnvVar = SUMATRAPATH, replace all instances of the pipe ('|') character in the key with a slash and that is the path to xsi.bat.
