Open a model

In Mudbox, you sculpt 3D polygonal models that have been created in other 3D applications such as Autodesk Maya, Autodesk 3ds Max, or Autodesk Softimage.

Opening a scene loads an existing model from disk or your local network and replaces the contents of the current scene. For more information on supported model file formats, see Model file formats.

  1. From the main menu, select File > Open.
  2. In the browser window that appears, select the file and click Open.

The scene loads in the 3D View.

Note

Mudbox does not support file, attribute, or directory paths that use double-byte characters in the names (such as found in Japanese, Korean, Chinese languages). Text strings should be restricted to single byte characters only (Latin alphabet). Using text strings that contain double-byte (extended ASCII) characters may result in an error or data loss.
