Character Face asset

The Character Face receives motion capture, audio data, or keyframe animation and uses the Generic and Custom expressions to animate the appropriate shapes on the head model.

Character Face animation data, generic channels, and model with shapes

With a Character Face, there is no automatic characterization process that lets MotionBuilder recognize the parts of the face. Instead, the shapes that make up a character‘s head model must be manually mapped to the Character Face to be set up for animation.

To do this, you use the Character Face Definition pane to map your head model‘s shapes to Generic and Custom expressions.

For information on creating head models and their shapes and how to create facial animation within MotionBuilder, see Head models and Animating Faces.
