Character Controls
 
 
 

The Character Controls window helps you animate a character model using a control rig, lets you select the motion source for the current character, and lets you plot animation to the character model.

The Character Controls contain the following main areas and options:

The following table provides a brief overview of tasks using the Character Controls.

To... Do this

Create a Control rig.

Select Control Rig > Create.

Change the appearance of rig effectors.

Select Control Rig > Rig Look, then select an effector style.

Change to Full Body keying and manipulation mode.

Click .

Change to Body Part keying and manipulation mode.

Click .

Set the animation source for the current character.

Select > Source, then select an input.

Create an auxiliary or pivot effector.

Right-click an IK effector cell and select Create Aux Pivot or Create Aux Effector.

Remove an auxiliary or pivot effector.

Select the effector in the scene and press delete.

To remove all extra effectors for a cell, Right-click and select Clear Extra Effectors.

Pin an effector in Translation.

Select the corresponding IK effector cell, then click .

Pin an effector in Rotation.

Select the corresponding IK effector cell, then click .

Temporarily release all pinning.

Click .

Edit retargeting parameters in the Properties window.

Select > Character > Edit Properties.
