File > Batch Convert Scenes to Archives

Opens the Batch Convert Scenes to XGen Archive(s) window, which lets you convert Maya geometry in selected scenes to XGen archive geometry. When selected for conversion, Maya creates archive (.xarc) files (and other supporting archive files). For information about the files created in the conversion, see Custom archive primitives and Create custom archives.

NoteThe source geometry in the Maya scene files are not altered during the archive conversion.
Scenes to be Converted

Displays the list of Maya scenes selected for archive batch conversion.

Click Browse to locate and add a scene file to the list.

Destination Folder

Lists the Collections in the scene. From the list, select the Collection that contains the Descriptions you want to save. The default locations for the archive directories are specified by the environment variables. You can edit these environment variables to change the default locations of the archives directories.

User Archives (${HOME}/xgen/archives)

Saves archived geometry to the default user xgen/archives directory.

The location of this directory is specified by the ${HOME} environment variable.

Local Archives (${XGEN_ROOT}/archives)

Saves archived geometry to the /archives directory.

The location of this directory is specified by the ${XGEN_ROOT} environment variable.

Global Archives (${XGEN_LOCATION}/present/archives)

Saves archived geometry to the /preset/archives directory.

The location of this directory is specified by the ${XGEN_LOCATION} environment variable.

Custom

Saves the archived geometry to a user-defined location.

Level of Detail

Lets you specify that low and medium resolution versions of the archive geometry are created in addition to the full resolution archive. When you add the archive as a primitive, Maya determines which version is added to locations on the surface of a mesh based on the distance from the camera. The camera distance is set using the Low Distance and Medium Distance attributes.

Disabled

Only one .abc file is create at the full resolution of the source geometry.

Automatic (PolyReduce %)

Creates low and medium versions of the geometry Alembic (.abc) files based on a specified polygon reduction (as a percent) of the source geometry. These files are saved in the abc directory and have _lo and _med suffix to the archive name to identify them as low and medium versions.

Type a value beside Low and Medium to set the polygon reduction amounts for the low and medium resolution Alembic (.abc) files.

Manual (LOD Suffix)

Creates low and medium versions of the geometry Alembic (.abc) files based on the object names of the selected geometry. Maya creates the source resolution Alembic from the object with the base name. By default, the low and medium resolution Alembic files are created from the objects that have _lo and _med suffix after the object base name.

You can customize the object name suffixes used to identify the low and medium resolution Alembic files. Type custom suffixes beside Low and Medium.

NoteTo create low, medium, and source resolution versions of the geometry, the base object names must be same. For example, pSphere_lo, pSphere_med, and pSphere.
Include Animation

Turn on to export animation data associated with the source geometry to the archive Alembic files.

Specify a time range for the animation by typing Start Frame and End Frame values.
