Create motion field

To create a motion field

  1. Create a fluid container with an emitter.
  2. Select the fluid, and then the object that you want to move the fluid.
  3. Select Fluid Effects > Make Motion Field.

The Motion field appears, and is automatically parented to the object.

Workflow

  1. Create a Motion field.

Fluid Motion fields have all the same attributes as regular Drag fields, with the exception that they are parented to an object, and they have preset volume bounds, Inherit Velocity, and Magnitude. See Fields > Drag in the Dynamics guide.

  2. With the Motion field selected, open the Attribute Editor.
  3. In the Volume Control Attributes section, select a Volume Shape that closely matches that of the object to which it is parented.
  4. (Optional) In the Drag Field Attributes section, if the default Motion field Magnitude and Inherit Velocity values are insufficient, adjust the Magnitude and Inherit Velocity values.

The greater the Magnitude, the greater the amount of fluid that is pushed or moved by the Motion field’s parent object.
