Updating, adding, or deleting objects sent to MotionBuilder

You can update and/or add new objects to the other application by selecting them and clicking the Update button or selecting Update Current Scene. Objects are not deleted using the Update functionality. If you no longer want to use an object in the scene, you must delete it.

Selecting Update Current Scene adds non-existing scene objects, while selecting Add to Current Scene duplicates existing objects instead of updating them.

For update operations, the HumanIK rig, skeleton, and bound geometry are considered separate character elements and are handled independently. See Selecting character data to update current scene.

To update an existing object

  1. Save the changes you made to the scene.
  2. Select the objects you want to update. If nothing is selected, previously sent objects will be updated.
  3. To update the objects, click the Update button or select File > Send to MotionBuilder > Update Current Scene.

Your MotionBuilder scene is now updated with the changes you made in Maya.

To add objects

  1. Save the changes you made to the scene.
  2. In the Outliner, scene, or Character Controls, select the objects you added, then select File > Send to MotionBuilder > Add to Current Scene.

To remove an object

  1. To remove objects that you no longer want in a scene, you must delete each object separately in both the Maya and MotionBuilder scene.
