To create a spring IK handle

  1. Activate the spring IK solver. See the above procedure.
  2. In the Animation menu set (press F2), select Skeleton > IK Handle Tool.

Your mouse pointer changes to the tool's crosshair cursor.

  3. Open the Tool Settings panel.

The IK Handle Settings appear. See Skeleton > IK Handle Tool.

  4. Select ikSpringSolver from the Current Solver drop-down list and set the other IK Handle Settings as desired.
  5. Click the joint in your joint chain that you want as your spring IK handle's start joint.
  6. Click the joint in your joint chain that you want as your spring IK handle's end joint.

A spring IK handle that starts and ends at the joints you selected appears on the joint chain.

To reset the joint rest pose for your spring IK handle

  1. Reposition your spring IK joint chain so it is at the pose you want as its handle’s new rest pose.

If the spring IK handle is keyframed, then you need to first disable the handle before you can reposition the joints of its spring IK joint chain. See Disable or enable IK handles.

  2. Select the spring IK handle for which you want to set a new rest pose.
  3. In the Attribute Editor, select the ikHandle tab.
  4. In the IK Solver Attributes section, expand the IK Spring Solver Attributes subsection by clicking the arrow next to its name.
  5. Click the Set to Current Pose button located next to the Rest Pose attribute.

The current pose of the spring IK handle’s joint chain is now its new rest pose.
