Release Notes - Autodesk Inventor 2016 SP1 Readme

In a continuing effort to provide high-quality products, Autodesk Inventor 2016 SP1 addresses multiple issues. This document highlights these issues and provide instructions to install the service pack.
General
- The SP1(Build 210) installs on Autodesk Inventor 2016 (Build 138).
- When appending SP1 for a deployment, update the deployment image on the same bit-type computer as the computer used for the final installation from that image. For more information about Network Deployments,
see the Network Administrator's Guide.
- Keep the original installation media or network image accessible during installation and uninstallation.
- SP1 includes released hotfixes for Autodesk Inventor 2016, including fixes in Update1 and Update2. No prerequisite installations are required.
Installation
- Update your operating system before installing Autodesk Inventor 2016 SP1. Reboot your system after these updates are installed.
- Double-click the .exe file to update Autodesk Inventor 2016 with SP1. A progress bar displays while the installer updates the files on your system.
- SP1 install log is located at %temp%\Autodesk Inventor 2106 SP1.log.
- Error codes are defined as below. You can see them from Application Manager.
20001: This application cannot be installed due to mismatched Inventor's version or language!
20002: A different version of Autodesk Inventor 2016 SP1 already exists. Please remove it first before you continue to install.
20003: An incorrect version of Inventor is installed. Please visit this website for more information on installing the correct version.
20004: An out of date Autodesk Inventor English language pack is installed. Please uninstall the current English language pack. Then, download and install the latest version from the Autodesk website.
- Sometimes, Windows Explorer closes automatically during installing SP1. If Windows Explorer does not restore after installation, follow below steps to restore it.
- Open TaskMgr in Windows search dialog.
- Click New Task...
- Input Explorer and click OK button.
- Reboot your system after the installation of SP1.
- Check the Control Panel to verify the installation was successful.
Windows 7: The update is in the Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Programs -> Programs and Features.
Windows 8: The update is in the Control Panel on the desktop Charms Bar -> Settings menu -> Programs -> Programs and Features.
Windows 10: The update is in the Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Settings menu -> Programs -> Programs and Features.
The Programs list should display, Autodesk Inventor Professional 2016 SP1, version: 20.1.21000.0000, the installation was successful.
Uninstallation
- Have the original source media available when uninstalling.
- The uninstallation process is prolonged as it waits for the operating system’s file updates to time out. This process takes up to two hours.
- To speed up the uninstall process, after the file updates are complete:
- Access Network Connections in your system Control Panel.
- Disable the local area connection and all network adaptors, including virtual adaptors.
- After the uninstall process completes successfully, in your system Control Panel, re-enable the local area connection and all network adaptors, including virtual adaptors.
- Reboot the system after the uninstallation of SP1 is complete.
Deployment
- Method 1
- Create or modify a deployment, on the Deployment Configuration Complete page, click Add Updates button to open Application Manager.
- Select Inventor 2016 SP1 and add it. Please note, use this way, when installing Inventor 2016 SP1 from the deployment, SP1 install process dialog will be shown, even with silent install mode.
- Method 2
- Create or modify a deployment, Navigate to Configure page, unfold Include Additional software dialog.
- Add Inventor 2016 SP1 and modify the name if you want. Please note: if you don’t want the SP1 installation process dialog shown, please add “/S” as the command line parameter.
- Method 3
- Create a deployment, under Img folder, create sub-folder ADDONS\ADDON_INVENTOR2016_SP1_0 and copy Inventor2016_SP1.exe into this folder.
- Open DeployName.ini file which in Img folder as well. Find EXE_SEQUENCE and add “ADDON_SEQUENCE=ADDON_INVENTOR2016_SP1_0” under that line; add the following text in the bottom of the file.

- Save the DeployName.ini.
Known Installation Issues
- If Inventor was installed from a network location, the installation of SP1 may run up to twice as slow as expected. This is due to additional security checking by Microsoft. For more information, please see Installation might require several hours to complete. You can opt out of the additional Microsoft security checking by running the SP1 installer from the Windows command line with the optional /OPTOUT_KB2918614 flag.
- If you downloaded and installed an Inventor Standalone language pack, it is possible that you may receive an error during the SP1 installation. You will need to uninstall the current Inventor Language Pack and reinstall the updated version from here.
- If you installed Inventor from the Autodesk Building Design Suite 2016, it is possible that you may receive an error during the SP1 installation. You will need to uninstall this version of Inventor and reinstall an updated version. For more information, please see Error 1328 when installing Update for Inventor 2016.

- Verify that you have administrator privileges on your local machine to install Autodesk Inventor 2016 SP1.
- Autodesk Inventor 2016 SP1 is approximately 412 MB in size. A minimum of 3.21 GB of free disk space is required on the drive where temporary files are directed.

3D Print
- 53934 Expanded tooltip for Printers does not include units of measure.
- 58768 Print Studio fails to launch when Windows Explorer is set to hide its file extensions.
- 64281 In the Part 3D Print environment, specifying the Ember printer from the ribbon button does not update correctly to "Ember".

Assembly Modeling
- 56191 The preview of Mate and Flush constraints in the Assemble command are mismatched.
- 72302 Inventor unexpectedly exits when the top-assembly in Express mode does not have an assembly feature. However, the deeper-level sub-assemblies contain an assembly and try to use the modified geometry.
- 77486 The Interference Analyze command ignores Component Patterns from analyze. Only the first/source element is analyzed.
- 31292 The flush option does not work as expected with Grip Snap.
- 61389 Behavior is inconsistent when adding Joints to a sketch than to a sketch block.
- 45150 Center of Gravity is visible and cannot be turned off.
- 54170 Inventor unexpectedly exits when opening an assembly linked to an .emx file and other files together.

- 51812 Split a table and move the child table to another sheet. When removing holes in a parent table, the hole index does not update.
- 79106 Inventor unexpectedly exits when calling the API method CustomTable.Columns.Add.
- 67457 Unable to change the orientation of base view that is used to define a section view.
- 84731 Override to hatch in an isometric view from a section view deletes when the view is updated.
- 60587 You are unable to edit the view orientation after disabling the Orient from base or Align to Base options.
- 51698 The drawing view preview display is empty when using the sketch only part.
- 70833 A preview of a rotated view containing a sketch-only part displays twice.
- 56844 Fails to edit a section sketch.
- 35674 Poor quality of embedded Excel tables in drawing files occurs when saving it as PDF.
- 46214 The drawing view representation of tapped holes created in assemblies is incorrect.

- 56082 The preview quality is bad when placing views from small parts.
- 51600 The hatch of AR-CONC pattern does not display in PDF output and Print.
- 56105 Some faces disappear when zooming into an assembly after deselecting the component visibility checkbox.
- 52155 The background is included when printing from the color scheme with 1 Color option.
- 69831 The problem with selecting faces of a composite in Express Mode is fixed.
- 59105 Inventor unexpectedly exits when closing it with the Mesh Enabler add-in loaded.
- 52935 Models overlapped with the Ray Tracing dialog are selected through when saving an image.
- 31133 Invisible edges under a section view display under the wireframe with visible edges only visual style.
- 82272 A cutout appearance does not display correctly in drawing PDF export or the drawing view preview.
- 54786 Inventor unexpectedly exits or no responses occur when inserting a view in some drawings.
- 85081 Assembly constraint direction arrows of a selected work plane is unclear with the default Winter Night color scheme.
- 51992 Solid hatch in a drawing sketch displays well, but cannot be printed or exported to PDF.
- 76748 Text in drawing sheets is missing in exported PDF files.
- 65828 The scene becomes black after switching some image-based lighting styles.

- 73190 Inventor unexpectedly exits when rendering an animation with some datasets.
- 72801 The Image Filter setting in the Studio Render dialog box does not work.
- 79830 You are unable to use Shaded with edges or other visual styles for studio animation with the Preview, No Render option.
